Here are a few examples of how we use “for” and “during” in English.
“For” can be used for a duration of time:
the footballers played for 90 minutes
I was on holiday for two weeks
The students were in the exam for 3 hours
“During” is for the event itself:
Zidane was sent off during the final of the world cup.
During my holiday I got sunburnt.
I fell asleep during the examination.
