Word of the Day: Butt In

to interrupt someone when they are speaking.

The verb ‘butt’ actually means to hit something with your head, like a ram (belier). Zinedine Zidane famously head-butted an Italian player in the world cup final.

Examples:
“I’m sorry to butt in, but could I just say that I don’t agree with you on this point.”
“I wasn’t able to finish my presentation because people kept butting in.”
