Have you ever…? posez-moi vos questions!

If you want to ask about someone’s experiences, start by saying ‘have you ever…done/been/seen/heard/ etc?’

The present perfect is used, because we are talking about life experiences that happened sometime between the past and the present moment.

Here are some examples:

Have you ever been to England? – es-tu déjà allé en angleterre? – Yes, I have/ No I haven’t/no, never.
Have you ever eaten English food? – as-tu déjà mangé la nourriture anglaise?

Ask me your ‘have you ever’ questions in the comments box below (not too indiscreet, please).

    Ibrahim,
I’ve never been to Timbuktu (English spelling), but it’s an ambition of mine to go one day. In English ‘Timbuktu’ evokes images of a very far away, strange place, that hardly anyone has visited. Maybe one day I will be able to teach English for a short time there (when the kids have grown up…)

  28. ibrahim says:

have you ever been to Tombouctou.

    Flaure,
Good questions, thank you. Do you live in Haiti? I’ve never been, but I understand that it’s a very poor country. I’m sorry for that. And I’m sorry for all the starving children in the world.
Dangerous travel? I’m not that adventurous, actually, but I’ve travelled by bus through Kenya and Tanzania, I was told that Nairobi is very dangerous for tourists, but nothing happened to us, and all the people we met were really kind.
Yes I’ve heard Creole songs, I like creole food, too!

  30. profanglais says:

    Andriamalala,

No, I’ve never been to Madagascar, but I would like to one day. I’ve seen the film with Alex the lion, though, and it made me wonder why they chose Madagascar. The Americans probably chose it because it’s so exotic and not many of them have heard of it, but for those of us who live in France, we know about your country and probably have friends or colleagues that come from there.

  31. Andriamalala A.H.M. says:

have you ever been to Madagascar ?

  32. flaure says:

have you ever heard a creole song?
have you ever seen a starving kid?
have you ever been to Haiti ?
have you ever done a dangerous travel?

  33. profanglais says:

    Nebelo,
‘have you ever travelled all over the world?’

-when I was very small, my parents travelled from Australia to England by boat, so yes, I have travelled all over the world, I just don’t remember much of it!!

  34. nebelo says:

hello, have you ever travel all over the world?
